New Release: 42H-2212L-18/10 Two-Phase Stepper Motor for Textile Machinery
We have released a new model to our 42 series: the 42H-2212L-18/10, a 42 mm two-phase hybrid stepper motor developed for textile machinery. The first customer to evaluate it has now completed sample validation on their machine and confirmed the result with clear satisfaction, so the model moves into series availability.
Built Around the Textile Machine Environment
Textile equipment is a harder duty than it looks. Compared with a clean automation cell, a textile machine asks for:
- Long continuous running — hours of uninterrupted motion rather than short indexing cycles, so thermal behaviour matters more than peak torque.
- Millions of reversals — pattern and traverse motions stop and start constantly, which is a bearing and rotor-inertia problem as much as a torque problem.
- Tolerance to lint and dust — the motor has to keep behaving when the environment is not clean.
- Low vibration — vibration travels through the machine frame and shows up as pattern quality defects long before it shows up as a motor fault.
- Repeatable mounting — service replacement must not require re-alignment or re-calibration of the machine.
Mechanical Interface
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Model | 42H-2212L-18/10 (42 series, two-phase hybrid stepper) |
| Frame size | 42 mm square, 42.3 mm max |
| Body length | 31 mm ±0.1 |
| Output shaft | Ø5 mm, tolerance 0 / -0.012, length 20 ±0.5, with flat |
| Centring boss | Ø22 mm, tolerance 0 / -0.052 |
| Mounting holes | 4 × M3×0.5P, minimum thread depth 3.8 mm |
| Wiring | Four leads A+ / A- / B+ / B- (bipolar), S6B-PH-K connector |
The tight shaft and boss tolerances are deliberate: they let a pulley or coupling run true without a separate alignment step on the machine builder's line, and they make a service replacement a true drop-in operation.
Same Interface as the 42H-2208L-18/10
The new model shares the mechanical interface of the 42H-2208L-18/10 already used in our textile and embroidery projects — same 42.3 mm frame, same 31 mm body, same 4-M3 pattern, same Ø5 shaft and S6B-PH-K connector. That means a machine builder can qualify a single bracket and a single harness, then select the winding variant that matches the torque and speed requirement of each axis or each machine model, without a second fixture design or a second qualification cycle.
Sample Validation: What Happened
Validation followed the sequence we use for every new model:
- Specification agreement — the customer defined the axis, mounting, load and duty cycle; we mapped it to a motor specification and mechanical interface.
- Bench verification — samples were built and measured in-house against the agreed dimensions and electrical acceptance criteria before shipment.
- Customer machine trial — the customer installed the samples on their textile machine and ran their own production trial, which is the only test that counts.
- Confirmation — the trial completed to their satisfaction, positioning the model for series supply.
What we consider the real result is not the approval itself, but the fact that the first sample round met the requirement. That only happens when the interface details — shaft runout, boss fit, connector, body length — are specified correctly at the drawing stage rather than discovered during assembly.
Availability
The 42H-2212L-18/10 is available now for sampling and series orders, alongside the 42H-2208L-18/10. Custom shaft geometry, lead length, connector type and winding specifications can be developed on the same mechanical platform, and we can support the qualification of your machine from sample to volume.
Send us your axis requirement and mounting drawing — we will confirm the specification, send samples for your own trial and support you through validation.
