Case Study: ARD-1326H-01 Power-Off Holding Electromagnet in Embroidery Machines, 200,000 Units
200,000 Units: ARD-1326H-01 Micro Power-Off Holding Electromagnet in Embroidery Machines
Our ARD-1326H-01 micro power-off holding electromagnet is now running in series production on a customer's embroidery machine platform. The customer's verdict after the switch to volume build was direct — the actuator behaved exactly as specified, with no field issues — and it translated into an order for 200,000 units.
This is the actuation side of the same platform where our 42 series stepper motor was already qualified. Supplying both the motion and the actuation means the customer validates one engineering relationship instead of two, and both parts are accountable to the same quality system.
The Requirement
Inside an embroidery head, space is fully occupied and every added watt is unwelcome. The actuator function needed to:
- Hold a position with the power off — the mechanism must not release when the machine is idle, paused or powered down mid-pattern.
- Cycle relentlessly — an embroidery head executes an actuation at a frequency that accumulates into a very high lifetime count within the machine's service life.
- Stay cool — heat inside the head shows up as clearance drift and, at worst, as thread handling problems.
- Be repeatable across 200,000 units — the same force, the same stroke, the same timing on every one.

Why It Suited This Machine
- Zero standby power. The holding force is specified with the coil de-energized: ≥ 50 g at 0 mm gap. The mechanism stays put for free, and a power interruption cannot release it.
- Pulse actuation, low heat. At 0.1 s ON / 0.3 s OFF, average dissipation is roughly 1.5 W — the coil is not contributing to head temperature during the long idle period between actuations.
- Defined stroke and thrust. The ≥ 50 g thrust is specified at a 3.8 mm stroke with DC12V applied, so the customer's mechanism design was built around a number that is verified, not assumed.
- Lifetime matched to the application. Verified above 100,000 cycles under normal use, with the working temperature range covering both a cold workshop start and a warm head in continuous operation.
Holding It Together at 200,000 Units
The engineering is only half of a volume order. The rest is process discipline: coil resistance held to 24 Ω ±10% so the current draw remains predictable batch after batch, insulation resistance checked at DC500V between coil and bobbin, dielectric strength proven at AC700V for one second with leakage within 1 mA, and appearance inspected for damage, cracking, rust and surface staining before packing. When a customer commits to 200,000 pieces, they are buying the reproducibility of those checks as much as the part itself.
The Result
The ARD-1326H-01 has been accepted into serial production on the customer's embroidery machine, drawing explicit satisfaction from their engineering and purchasing teams, and generating a 200,000-unit order. Together with the 42 series stepper motor already running on the same platform, it gives the customer a single supplier accountable for both motion and actuation.
What This Means for Your Project
If you are specifying a small actuator that must hold position without power, cycle hard and stay cool, this is exactly the application profile our power-off holding electromagnet family was built for — in the 13-series body or the other sizes we offer. And if your machine also needs the stepper motor, we can deliver both from one technical team.
Send us your actuation requirement and mounting constraints — we will propose a specification, supply samples and support the qualification through to volume.
